Medicare

HICAPS has integrations to the full suite of Medicare Web Services, including bulk bill, eclipse claiming and in-hospital claiming.

Medicare Easyclaim allows patients to lodge their claims and receive their rebates all through the HICAPS terminal.

Depending on how you and your patient agree to settle the account, there are three payment options that you can lodge through Medicare Easyclaim:

  • Fully paid account – the patient has paid their account in full.
  • Part paid account – the patient has contributed to the settlement of the account.
  • Unpaid account – the account has not been paid.

Following the full payment of the account, you can swipe your patient's Medicare card, and the rebate will be paid directly into their account.

For more information on claiming with Medicare, reconciling bulk bill payments and more, please refer to our Medicare reference guide (PDF, 395KB) and Medicare Easyclaim User Guide (PDF, 5.7MB)

Please note: it's at your discretion whether to bulk bill a patient or not. If you choose to bulk bill, additional fees or co-payments shouldn't be charged to your patient following bulk bill claims.

Insurance Commission of Western Australia

Insurance Commission of Western Australia, together with HICAPS have enabled  eligible health service providers (physiotherapists, general practitioners, osteopaths, chiropractors, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and medical specialists) to receive prompt payment for treatments, that the Insurance Commission has pre-approved.

The Insurance Commission has continued to enhance its services, and now introduced a Digital Claiming Card to make payment of these pre-approved treatments even easier.  Digital Claiming Card can be downloaded to claimant’s smartphone (Apple and Android) and added to their digital wallet.

Apple users will be able to use their Apple Wallet to ‘tap and pay’ for approved treatments on a HICAPS terminal.

Android users# will be able to store a copy of their treatment number in their digital wallet for convenience. Payment for approved treatments can be processed by manually entering the 19-digit treatment number into a HICAPS terminal.

Processing pre-approved treatment services through the HICAPS terminal removes the need for manual processing of services and reduces the time (in most cases) from 20 days down to 24 hours.

# Android users are currently unable to use the Digital Claiming Card to 'tap and pay' for approved treatments. This capability will be made available once Google Pay services can be processed on HICAPS terminals.

View our ICWA Automated Payments Guide to see which pre-approved service items are available for processing with HICAPS.
